Promoting innovation in theatre

The Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award 2007

The Terrific Electric was the first project for the 2007 OSBTT award winner, Boileroom.

Boileroom are committed to a laboratory approach to creation and performance. Their core team includes theatre practitioners, a sound designer, sculptor, surgeon and physicist. They draw on historical and contextual study, dialogues within the community and with invited specialists from the fields of science, humanities and the plastic arts.

The Terrific Electric is an investigation into the intimate relationship generations foster with technology. It celebrates the birth of electricity and looks at how the mechanics of invention shaped a new perspective of our bodies in relation to the outside world. The Terrific Electric questions our relationship with objects, machines, electricity and the sublime.

Time Out
